Ultrasonic Magnetic Vortex Flow Meter Manufacturer, Sure We Are, Sure To Be Better | ✉ overseas@suremeter.com
Turbine flow meters are versatile tools for flow measurement, offering both on-site display and remote transmission of flow signals, which can be in the form of pulse or current signals (4-20mA). These meters are cost-effective, highly integrated, and compact, making them ideal for use with secondary display devices, PLCs, DCS, and other computer control systems.
To ensure accurate measurements from your turbine flow meter, it is crucial to select the correct installation location and method. Here are some best practices for installing turbine flow meters:
1. Straight Pipe Requirements:
The flow meter must be installed horizontally on the pipeline (with a tilt of less than 5 degrees).
Ensure that the axis of the flow meter is concentric with the pipeline axis and that the direction of flow is consistent.
The length of the upstream pipeline should have a straight section of no less than 2D (diameters).
If possible, it is recommended to have an upstream straight pipe section of 20D and a downstream section of 5D.
2. Pipe Requirements:
The internal diameter of the piping upstream and downstream of the flow meter installation point must be the same as the internal diameter of the flow meter.
3. Bypass Pipe Requirements:
To ensure uninterrupted medium flow during flow meter maintenance, install shut-off valves (globe valves) before and after the flow meter, and also set up a bypass pipeline.
The flow control valve should be installed downstream of the flow meter.
When the flow meter is in use, the shut-off valve installed upstream must be fully open to prevent unstable flow patterns in the upstream section.
4. External Environment Requirements:
It is best to install the turbine flow meter indoors. If outdoor installation is necessary, be sure to protect it from sun, rain, and lightning to avoid affecting its service life.
5. Requirements for Impurities in the Medium:
To ensure the flow meter's service life, install a filter in front of the straight pipe section before the flow meter.
6. Installation Site:
The flow meter should be installed in a location that is convenient for maintenance and free from strong electromagnetic interference and heat radiation.
7. Welding Requirements:
Users should provide a pair of standard flanges welded to the front and rear pipelines.
Do not weld with the flow meter in place!
Before installing the flow meter, it is crucial to thoroughly remove weld slag and other debris from the pipeline.
It is best to use a pipe of the same diameter (or a bypass pipe) instead of the flow meter to blow out the pipeline, ensuring that the flow meter is not damaged during use.
By adhering to these guidelines, you can ensure that your turbine flow meter is installed correctly, providing accurate and reliable flow measurements for your process control applications.
