A thermal power co-generation enterprise, with an early boiler design, has embarked on a comprehensive optimization and renovation project to enhance boiler combustion efficiency as part of a smart power plant construction initiative. Given the complex and variable coal types used by the company, optimization of desulfurization equipment and processes has been crucial to meet the requirements of the "Action Plan for Water Pollution Prevention and Control" and the "Implementation Plan for the Control of Pollutant Emission Permits," aiming for zero wastewater discharge.
Customer Requirements
The general process of power plant desulfurization involves "pre-treatment + concentration reduction + end solidification." Wastewater is first pre-treated, then the volume is concentrated, and finally, the concentrated wastewater undergoes solidification treatment.
For this plant, with a relatively small volume of desulfurization wastewater, direct flue gas evaporation is used for solidification treatment after pre-treatment. Flow meters are required at two stages to measure the flow of desulfurization wastewater entering the drying tower, providing data support for the operation adjustment of desulfurization equipment and ensuring effective desulfurization. The plant controls the amount of desulfurization wastewater sprayed into the drying tower, maintaining an online desulfurization wastewater flow rate of approximately 0.5t/h, with a pipeline diameter of DN10. The flow meter must be corrosion-resistant, accurate, and have stable product performance.
Solution
After communicating with the client, we understood that three instruments were needed for the same process flow and function, all used to monitor the volume of wastewater discharged after desulfurization, located between the desulfurization stage and the drying tower. Considering that the desulfurization wastewater in thermal power plants mainly comes from the blowdown water of the absorption tower during the wet flue gas desulfurization process, even after pre-treatment to remove large particle suspensions, calcium and magnesium hardness ions, and some heavy metal ions, the wastewater still contains heavy metal elements and chloride ions, which are highly corrosive. High corrosion resistance and explosion-proof requirements for equipment and pipeline materials are necessary. Therefore, we selected electromagnetic flow meters with anti-corrosion and explosion-proof features for the client.
